How to clean corrosion off MacBook Pro logic board

  • a toothbrush;
  • lint-free wipes or a towel;
  • Ultra Sonic Cleaner;

Dismantle the heatsink and the logic board

To dismantle the motherboard and the heatsink act as described below:

  1. Remove the back cover, find the fan, and undo the four screws that fix the bar which secures it on the board
  2. Using the spudger disconnect devices from all connectors on the logic board on the upper part of your MacBook.
  3. Unscrew the bar clamps which block access for the wires below the heatsink.
  4. Disconnect all connectors you can now access and remove all remaining screws that fix the heatsink and the logic board to the case
